How to bypass the connection is not private SSL error

Even if you trust the website, someone could be tampering with your connection – you should only bypass the warning if you are confident that the website is both who it claims to be and that your connection is secure. You can also be vulnerable to eavesdroppers if you enter data into a site using a weakly encrypted connection.

Google Chrome

An error will appear in Google Chrome if the certificate cannot be validated as shown below.

Attackers might be trying to steal your information from domain.com (for example, passwords, messages, or credit cards).

Additionally, an error code message appears that assists in tracking the exact issue.

You may see the following error codes in Google Chrome:

  • ERR_CERT_SYMANTEC_LEGACY
  • NET::ERR_CERT_AUTHORITY_INVALID
  • NET::ERR_CERT_COMMON_NAME_INVALID
  • NET::ERR_CERT_WEAK_SIGNATURE_ALGORITHM
  • NET::ERR_CERTIFICATE_TRANSPARENCY_REQUIRED
  • NET::ERR_CERT_DATE_INVALID
  • ERR_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR
  • ERR_SSL_VERSION_OR_CIPHER_MISMATCH

To bypass this error, you can simply type: thisisunsafe

Mozilla Firefox

An error will appear in Firefox if the certificate cannot be validated as shown below.

  • SEC_ERROR_UNKNOWN_ISSUER
  • MOZILLA_PKIX_ERROR_MITM_DETECTED

  • SSL_ERROR_BAD_CERT_DOMAIN
  • SEC_ERROR_OCSP_INVALID_SIGNING_CERT

To bypass this error click Advanced > Accept the Risk and Continue.

Safari

An error will appear in Safari if the certificate cannot be validated as shown below.

This Connection is Not Private
