Exciting News: QuickHostUK has joined the London Internet Exchange (LINX)!

We are thrilled to announce that QuickHostUK has become a proud member of the esteemed London Internet Exchange (LINX), a renowned global network peering exchange responsible for over 90% of the world’s routing table.

Operating across the UK and US, LINX holds a prominent position as a mutually governed leader in internet exchange points (IXP). Boasting an impressive membership of over 950+ organizations from 85 countries worldwide, LINX manages 1,500 ports and handles a remarkable average daily bandwidth of 5.8 Tbit/s. Through LINX, members enjoy reliable traffic exchange, enhanced routing control, and improved performance.

Living up to its mantra of ‘Working for the good of the internet,’ LINX diligently reinvests all service and membership fees into its infrastructure, ensuring it remains up to date and at the forefront of the IXP industry. This ongoing investment empowers LINX to deliver promises of improved network performance, low latency, and greater control to its valued members.

The LINX London Network consists of two separate high-performance Ethernet switching platforms accessible from 16 data centre locations.

London (LON2)

LINX’s disaggregated LON2 platform came into operation in the summer of 2018 with LINX being the first IXP anywhere in the World to implement such a system. The LON2 architecture, employing EVPN over VXLAN and featuring leaf-spine topology, uses IP Infusion’s OcNOS™ network operating system and switch hardware from Edgecore Networks.

LINX Manchester

The exchange has over 140 member ASNs connected and passes approximately 200Gbps of traffic, making LINX Manchester one of the busier exchanges in Europe.

Launched in 2012, LINX Manchester is now located at four sites in the city. Two sites are based at Equinix in Williams House and Joule House, the third at the M247 data centre with TeleData coming on board in early 2020.

• There is a good mix of content providers and access networks present at the exchange including Akamai, BBC, Janet and Virgin Media.
• Availability metrics achieves greater than the coveted 99.999 % reliability
• Resilience is a major feature and this is reflected in our topology and our two route servers.
