What’s New – QuickCloud Bring Your Own IPs

Bring your own address space to QuickCloud and route it where you need it.

QuickCloud BYOIP lets you use your own IPv4 or IPv6 prefixes across your QuickHost infrastructure, giving you more control over addressing, routing and how your network is presented to the Internet.

Whether your IP space belongs on a Cloud VM, Dedicated Server, colocated hardware, a Cloud Firewall or even infrastructure at another site, QuickCloud gives you a simple way to bring that address space into the platform.

Bring your network with you

If you already hold your own IP space, you shouldn’t have to give it up just because you move infrastructure.

With BYOIP, your prefixes can be announced from the QuickHost network and routed to the services you choose.

That means you can keep using your existing addresses while moving workloads between physical and virtual infrastructure.

Use your own ASN

If you already operate your own Autonomous System Number, QuickCloud can establish BGP between your router or server and our network.

Your ASN remains visible as the origin of the route, giving you direct control over how your address space is announced.

This is particularly useful for organisations that already operate their own network, require portable addressing or want to maintain their own routing identity.

Or let QuickHost announce it for you

You don’t need your own ASN to use BYOIP.

QuickHost can originate your prefixes from AS209243, allowing your address space to be announced without you needing to operate BGP yourself.

You provide the necessary authorisation and routing records, and we take care of the announcement from our network.

Route your prefixes to QuickCloud services

Once your prefix is live, you decide where the traffic should go.

Your address space can be routed to compatible QuickCloud services such as:

  • Cloud VMs
  • Dedicated Servers
  • Colocation
  • Cloud Firewalls
  • Virtual routers
  • Other supported infrastructure

This makes it possible to use the same address space across very different types of infrastructure.

Put your own IP space behind a Cloud Firewall

BYOIP becomes particularly useful when combined with QuickCloud networking.

You can route your own prefix to a Cloud Firewall and use it as the public network for the infrastructure behind it.

That gives you central control over:

  • Firewall policies
  • NAT
  • VPN access
  • Private networks
  • Site-to-site connectivity
  • Internet-facing services

Your servers can then sit behind the firewall regardless of whether they are Cloud VMs, Dedicated Servers or colocated hardware.

Route your IPs to a remote site

Your infrastructure doesn’t necessarily need to be physically hosted with QuickHost.

QuickCloud can also route customer address space through a virtual router and tunnel the traffic to infrastructure at another location.

That opens up use cases such as:

  • Keeping the same public IPs during a migration
  • Extending QuickCloud networking to another datacentre
  • Routing traffic to an office or remote site
  • Building hybrid environments across multiple locations
  • Moving services without changing customer-facing IP addresses

One network across physical and cloud infrastructure

BYOIP fits naturally into the wider QuickCloud platform.

You might have a public prefix routed through a Cloud Firewall, Cloud VMs running application services behind it, a colocated database server on the same private network and backup storage elsewhere in QuickCloud.

The important part is that the IP addressing is no longer tied to one individual server.

It becomes part of your overall infrastructure.

IRR and RPKI checks built in

Before an announcement goes live, we check the relevant Internet Routing Registry and RPKI information for the prefix.

This helps confirm that the route is authorised and that the appropriate records are in place.

Where QuickHost originates the prefix, suitable authorisation from the prefix holder is also required.

Orders are reviewed before activation to help protect both customers and the wider network.

Designed for portable infrastructure

BYOIP can be useful for organisations that:

  • Already own IPv4 or IPv6 space
  • Operate their own ASN
  • Need addresses that remain consistent during migrations
  • Run infrastructure across multiple platforms
  • Want public addressing independent of an individual server
  • Need to combine physical and cloud infrastructure
  • Want to retain control over their network identity

Managed inside QuickCloud

BYOIP is configured from your QuickCloud Workspace alongside the infrastructure it connects to.

Add the prefixes you want to bring, choose how they should be announced, select where traffic should be routed and submit the request for review.

Once live, your own address space becomes another part of your QuickCloud environment.

Your IP space. Your infrastructure.

Cloud infrastructure is more useful when the network can move with it.

QuickCloud BYOIP gives you the freedom to bring your own address space and use it across Cloud VMs, Dedicated Servers, colocation, firewalls and remote infrastructure.

Bring your network with you — and route it where you need it.
