Staff Profile CR CEO

What is colocation?

A colocation facility is a place where you can host your own equipment in a purpose-built data centre, rather than at your own premises. As a result, instead of finding your own secure space, installing expensive and uninterruptible power, cooling, and network equipment, you can simply rent some rack space that provides all of these things for you. Only you and QuickHostUK will have access to your equipment.

What colocation do I need?

When considering colocation it’s important to factor in your size requirements both for now and for the future. Most single servers are 1u in size, however, some servers go much larger. At QuickHostUK you can colocate as little as one single 1u server, all the way up to a full rack with 42u of space.

How do I manage my colocation?

You can control every aspect of your package in your customer portal. This includes viewing detailed information about your colocation services, requesting access to the data center, managing IP addresses, managing power ports, and more!

QuickHostUK Half Rack

Our two focusses are providing you with the technology you need and customer service.

That’s why we drive excellence into our customer service and our hosting solutions. We understand our clients and their expectations to ensure we over deliver, everytime.

More about us

What devices can I colocate?

Our basic colocation service is designed to host any equipment that fits into a standard 19-inch rack. In addition, we can house Tower Servers, PCs, Storage and NAS units, Raspberry Pis, cryptocurrency mining rigs, and virtually any other device requiring colocation. Please get in touch to let us know your requirements.

What is your power configuration?

We currently use an online N+1 Riello Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) battery backup system with external bypass and external distribution enabling us to monitor and manage the power supply to each rack.

We also operate separate A+B mains supplies to our UPS system including a backup diesel generator which in the event of a grid failure will power all systems for 3 days.

Each rack is powered by up to 2 x 32A 250v AC commando sockets fed from separate A+B power distribution units.

What racks do you provide?

We offer full racks up to 42U, half racks up to 21U, and quarter racks up to 10U.

All racks are arranged in a hot & cold aisle layout. All racks benefit from lockable, detachable meshed front and rear doors to maximise airflow and cooling.

What cooling do you provide?

We currently use an N+1 120kW Airedale Downflow Direct Expansion cooling system.

Using this configuration we capture the hot air expelled by the racks at the ceiling, the hot air is then cooled and sent down under the raised data centre floor where it is forced out of strategically placed air vents in front of the racks.

This is far more efficient than dropping the cold air from the ceiling where it must battle with the rising hot air and losing its coldness before reaching the racks.

What network do you provide?

To guarantee optimal network routes and reduce latency, we have implemented redundant fiber connections to important destinations like London Telehouse North (THN) and Equinix (LD7). Moreover, we have established multiple connections to the London Internet Exchange (LINX) in London (LON1), London (LON2), and LINX Manchester (MAN). These measures enable us to enhance network performance and ensure seamless connectivity for our users.

Currently, Juniper MX routers are being used at the edge and Juniper EX series virtual chassis switches are being used at the core.

Each rack is fed by two 1Gb RJ45 network cables providing failover and aggregation capabilities. Additionally, we offer 10Gb copper and fiber options.

Can I use my own connectivity?

QuickHostUK has excellent connectivity which suits most client’s objectives for speed and resilience, however, you may bring in your own provider if you wish.

How do you secure my equipment?

We understand that your equipment and data are critical to your business. Our facility is physically protected by a manned gated entrance, steel security doors, and window bars.

Any access into and out of the building is monitored and limited by access cards.

Only you and QuickHostUK will have access to your rack. Secure lockers can be provided for your spare parts such as cables, disks, and RAM.

All areas are monitored by CCTV and digitally archived.

Do you offer an SLA?

Yes, our SLAs offer particular value for businesses demanding the highest level of performance and greater peace of mind. Please see our Service Level Agreement (SLA) for more information.

Are you accredited?

Yes, we meet ISO/IEC 27001 which is the international standard for information security, and ISO/IEC 9001 which is the international standard that specifies requirements for quality management systems (QMS). Please visit our accreditations page for more information and to download our certificates.
