QuickCloud · Managed Databases

Your database, managed across three separate hosts

Run PostgreSQL, MariaDB or Redis-compatible Valkey with three database nodes, automatic failover and one stable connection address. QuickCloud manages the nodes, encryption, monitoring and backups in our UK data centre.

How it works

Three nodes. One connection address.

Each cluster runs on three separate physical hosts, with dedicated CPU and memory for every node. Your application connects to one hostname and floating IP. If the leader fails, the surviving nodes take over and the address moves to the new leader. Your application reconnects using the same connection details.

Failover runs independently of the QuickCloud panel. QuickCloud rebuilds failed nodes and returns them to the cluster.

A host fails. The connection address stays.

Choose your database engine

PostgreSQL 17

Synchronous replication with Patroni. Protects committed data during supported single-node failover. Nightly full backups and seven-day point-in-time recovery included.

MariaDB 11.8

Galera replication with one writer exposed through your connection address. Protects committed data during supported single-node failover. Nightly full backups and seven-day point-in-time recovery included.

Redis-compatible

Valkey 8.1

Primary and two replicas with Sentinel failover. Designed for Redis-compatible workloads such as caching, sessions and queues. Asynchronous replication means recent writes may be lost during failover. Nightly and manual snapshots included; no point-in-time recovery.

Included with every cluster

  • Three database nodes on three separate physical hosts.
  • Dedicated CPU and memory, with no overcommit.
  • One stable hostname and floating connection address.
  • Automatic failover and managed node recovery.
  • TLS connections, encrypted data disks and encrypted backups.
  • Private encrypted networking between nodes.
  • Public access restricted by an allowed-address list, or private-network access.
  • Cluster health, activity and access controls in the panel.
  • Planned switchover to an eligible synchronised standby.
  • Email notifications for failover, node health, backups and storage usage.
Backups

Recovery when you need it

For PostgreSQL and MariaDB, nightly full backups and archived changes provide a seven-day point-in-time recovery window. The panel shows the latest protected-through time, so you can see exactly how far recovery is available.

Restore to a chosen moment as a new instance, or recover one database into the existing cluster under a new name. Backups are encrypted before leaving the node and stored separately from the cluster.

Valkey uses nightly and manual snapshots instead of point-in-time recovery.

Recover from an earlier point in time.

Manage your database from QuickCloud

Create a cluster in minutes. Copy connection details from the Connect tab, control allowed addresses, inspect the leader and replicas, and manage supported engine settings.

For PostgreSQL and MariaDB, create databases and users, assign permissions and perform restores from the panel. Changes made directly over SQL appear in the panel too, with custom grants preserved.

Panel Overview

Sizes and billing

Choose your size when creating the cluster. The QuickCloud panel shows the resources per node and the all-in hourly price and monthly maximum for the whole cluster. This includes management, dedicated resources, database storage and the included backup features.

Frequently asked questions

Will I need to change my connection details after failover?

No. The hostname and floating IP stay the same. Configure your application to reconnect after a brief interruption.

Is failover instant?

Failover takes seconds. Applications can briefly lose their connection. Planned switchovers measured around 10 seconds during pre-launch testing; this is not a fixed recovery-time guarantee.

Can I lose data during failover?

PostgreSQL synchronous replication and MariaDB Galera protect committed data during the supported single-node failure. Valkey replication is asynchronous, so recent writes may be lost during failover.

Are the nodes in different data centres?

The nodes run on three separate physical hosts in one UK data centre. The cluster protects against a single host or node failure, rather than loss of the site.

Do all engines support point-in-time recovery?

PostgreSQL and MariaDB include seven-day point-in-time recovery. Valkey includes nightly and manual snapshots.

Can I use the replicas for read scaling?

The replicas provide availability. A separate read-only endpoint is not currently offered.

Can I resize a running cluster?

Choose the cluster size at creation. Online cluster resizing is not currently offered.

Do I get shell access to the nodes?

QuickCloud manages the nodes. You connect to the database and use the panel to manage supported controls; there is no customer shell or node console.
