Why QuickCloud Storage Boxes

Your storage, without the complexity.

Whether you're storing application files, keeping copies of important data or moving files between systems, QuickCloud Storage Boxes give you dedicated storage space without the need to provision and maintain another server.

Secure SFTP Access

Transfer files securely.

Every connection to your Storage Box is encrypted, protecting files as they move between your devices and your storage.

Access From Multiple Devices

Your files, wherever you need them.

Connect from Linux, Windows, macOS and anything else that supports SFTP, including several systems at once.

Snapshots Included

An extra layer of protection.

Take a snapshot whenever you like, or turn on daily automatic snapshots. Bring back a deleted or overwritten file yourself.

Flexible Storage Plans

Start small. Grow when you need to.

Choose from 100 GB to 5 TB, or pay only for what you store. Resize up or down later without moving your files.

SSH Key Authentication

Secure access that doesn't rely on passwords.

Use SSH keys, a password, or both. Add an IP allowlist so only your own systems can connect.

One QuickCloud Workspace

Storage alongside the rest of your infrastructure.

Manage your Storage Boxes, servers, networking and other services from a single QuickCloud account.

Use cases

One Storage Box. Plenty of possibilities.

Use your Storage Box for the things that matter to you, from off-server backups to shared application files and everyday file storage.

Off-Server Backups

Keep copies of important files away from your server.

Send backups from your servers and backup software to a separate box, so a failed server doesn't take its backups with it. You set the schedule in your backup software.

Server File Storage

Keep files separate from your compute resources.

Store archives, application assets, exports and other files outside your server's main disk.

File Transfers

Move files securely between systems.

Use SFTP to move data between your servers, computers and applications.

Centralised Storage

One destination for multiple systems.

Connect several authorised systems to the same Storage Box, instead of running a separate storage server for every workload.

Several systems can connect at the same time and see the same files. SFTP doesn't coordinate two systems changing the same file, so give each system its own folder. A Storage Box isn't suitable for live database files.

Connect with SFTP

Connect using the tools you already know.

Storage Boxes use SFTP, a widely supported secure file transfer protocol. Connect from your preferred application without installing any QuickCloud software.

macOSCyberduck, FileZilla or command-line SFTP.

Up and running in three steps

  1. 1

    Create Your Storage Box

Choose your storage capacity and create it in QuickCloud.
  2. 2

    Configure Access

Use the connection details in your panel and add an SSH key, or use the password.
  3. 3

    Connect and Transfer

Open your preferred SFTP application and start transferring files.

Mount it with SSHFS

Need your storage to appear as a folder?

On Linux, SSHFS lets you mount your Storage Box as a folder, so remote files can be opened through a local directory.

  • Access files through a mounted directory
  • Use your existing applications with remote files
  • Keep large file collections off your server's disk
  • Automate everyday file workflows

On Windows, free tools such as SSHFS-Win can map a Storage Box as a network drive.

SSHFS reaches your files over a network connection, so speed and behaviour differ from a local disk. It is not a replacement for block storage or database disks. SSHFS is installed separately, and mount paths and permissions depend on your operating system.

Snapshots and protection

Your files deserve an extra layer of protection.

Every Storage Box includes snapshots, so a deleted or overwritten file is not necessarily gone for good.

Redundant Storage

Your files are stored on redundant dual-parity storage, so a failed disk does not lose your data.

Snapshots You Can Browse

Take a snapshot on demand, or turn on a daily automatic snapshot and choose how many to keep (up to 10). Each snapshot is a read-only folder inside your box, so you restore a file by copying it back.

Separate From Your Servers

Copies kept in a Storage Box live outside the server they came from, so a problem with that server does not remove its off-server copy.

Snapshots are kept on the same storage system as your box. They protect against files being deleted, overwritten or damaged, but they are not a separate offsite copy. For data you can't afford to lose, keep another copy somewhere else too.

Snapshots protect the Storage Box itself. Backups you upload into it are yours to schedule and manage.

Pricing

Works with QuickCloud

More than storage. Part of your infrastructure.

Use Storage Boxes alongside your QuickCloud services. Keep files separate from your servers, centralise backup destinations and manage everything from one workspace.

  • One QuickCloud account
  • Centralised service management
  • Works with cloud and dedicated servers
  • Reachable from outside QuickCloud over SFTP
  • Independent of your server's local disk

Each system needs to be able to reach the box: if you've added an IP allowlist, include that system's address, and allow outbound SFTP (port 2022) on any firewall in between. A Storage Box doesn't join your private network or attach itself to new servers automatically.

FAQ

Questions about Storage Boxes

Something else? Talk to our UK team.

What is a QuickCloud Storage Box?

A Storage Box is network storage hosted in our UK datacentre. You upload, download and manage files securely over SFTP, without running your own storage server.

How do I connect to my Storage Box?

Use any SFTP application or tool. Your QuickCloud panel shows the hostname, port and username for your box.

Can I use SSH keys?

Yes. You can add SSH keys, use the password, or both. The password is shown once when the box is created and you can regenerate it at any time.

Can I mount a Storage Box on Linux?

Yes. Linux systems can mount a Storage Box with SSHFS, so remote files can be opened through a local folder. On Windows, free tools such as SSHFS-Win can map it as a drive.

Can multiple servers access the same Storage Box?

Yes. Several authorised systems can connect at the same time and see the same files. SFTP doesn't coordinate two systems changing the same file at once, so give each system its own folder.

Can I use a Storage Box for backups?

Yes. A Storage Box works well as a destination for backup software and scheduled file transfers. You set up the backup schedule on your server or in your backup software.

Are Storage Boxes backed up?

Your files are stored on redundant dual-parity storage, and every box includes snapshots. You can take a snapshot at any time, or turn on a daily automatic snapshot and choose how many to keep, up to 10 per box.

Each snapshot appears as a read-only folder inside your box, so you can restore a single file yourself by copying it back. Snapshots are kept on the same storage system as your box, so for critical data we recommend keeping another copy elsewhere too.

Which storage sizes are available?

Fixed plans from 100 GB to 5 TB, or a pay-as-you-go box that charges for the storage you actually use, with a cap you set. You can resize later without moving your files.

Is my connection encrypted?

Yes. SFTP runs over an encrypted SSH connection, protecting your login and your files as they travel between your device and your Storage Box.

Can I access my Storage Box from outside QuickCloud?

Yes. Any system that supports SFTP can connect, as long as it can reach the box and has the right login. If you've added an IP allowlist, include that system's address.

Can I manage Storage Boxes through AI?

QuickCloud has a built-in AI assistant and supports compatible external assistants through MCP. They can see your Storage Boxes' settings and usage, not the files inside them. Available actions depend on the supported tools and the permissions you grant.

Where is my data stored?

In our own UK datacentre, on infrastructure operated by QuickHost.
