Standard VPS vs. Public Cloud: Which is right for you?

Both options run on the same QuickHost infrastructure, but they are designed for different use cases.

If you’re unsure which to choose, the comparison below explains the key differences.

Standard UK VPS

A Standard VPS runs on a single physical server with fast local NVMe storage. This provides excellent performance and great value for most workloads such as websites, development environments, staging servers, and most applications.

QuickCloud (Public Cloud)

QuickCloud (Public Cloud) runs on a clustered platform where storage is replicated across multiple servers using Ceph. This removes the single hardware dependency of a traditional VPS and allows instances to continue running even if a node fails.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where is the VPS hosted?

All VPS plans are hosted in our UK data centre, powered by enterprise-grade infrastructure, resilient networking, and 24/7 monitoring.

What OS templates do you include?

We offer a wide range of one-click operating system templates for both Linux and Windows VPS deployments, allowing you to get started quickly without manual installation.

Linux VPS templates:

  • AlmaLinux
  • CentOS
  • Debian
  • Fedora
  • openSUSE
  • Rocky Linux
  • Scientific Linux
  • Ubuntu

Windows VPS templates:

  • Windows Server 2012 R2
  • Windows Server 2016
  • Windows Server 2019
  • Windows Server 2022
  • Windows Server 2025
  • Windows 10 Pro
What type of storage is used?

Our standard VPS platform uses local NVMe SSD storage, delivering ultra-low latency and high disk performance. This architecture is optimised for speed-focused workloads where maximum IOPS and responsiveness are the priority.

If you prefer greater redundancy over raw disk speed, you may choose our SATA RAID10 storage option, which provides strong data protection with balanced performance.

For full high availability, including distributed storage and hypervisor failover, we recommend our High Availability Cloud VPS, which is designed for maximum resilience and infrastructure-level redundancy.

Are backups included?

Nightly snapshots are included with every VPS. Snapshots are full-server restore points stored on the same infrastructure and are ideal for short-term rollback or recovery after updates or configuration changes.

For continuous, off-server protection, we offer Continuous Data Protection (CDP) as an add-on. CDP provides file-level backups with multiple daily recovery points, allowing you to restore individual files, databases, or entire servers from a separate backup system.

Can I upload my own ISO?

Yes. You can deploy your own operating system using ISO upload directly from the VPS control panel.

Do you oversell CPU or disk performance?

No. We allocate resources fairly across all VPS instances to ensure consistent performance under load.

What’s the difference between VPS and QuickCloud?

VPS is designed for high-performance, single-node workloads using local NVMe storage for low-latency disk performance.

QuickCloud (High Availability VPS and Virtual Data Centre) uses distributed storage and hypervisor failover for increased redundancy and availability. It also includes private networking, VLAN support, and isolated virtual networks, making it ideal for multi-server deployments and production environments requiring resilience and network segmentation.

Can I upgrade later?

Yes. You can upgrade RAM, storage, or move to QuickCloud or Fully Managed VPS as your requirements grow.

Do you offer an API?

Yes. We provide a comprehensive API that exposes the same functionality available in the VPS control panel. This allows you to automate tasks such as provisioning, power management, backups, networking, and configuration, making it ideal for developers, resellers, and advanced users.

Can I resell your VPS?

Yes. Please see our VPS Reseller packages for flexible reseller options designed for hosting providers, developers, and agencies.
